Getting ready for the Olympic games: developing teachers and learners

Call for papers

(a) Talk (20 minutes): In a talk, the presenter puts forward ideas related to an area of ELT and discusses them. The ideas might be based on classroom experience, research or reading. Practical applications of the ideas would then be put forward to the audience, and approximately 5 minutes should be left at the end for questions and/or comments.

(b) Demonstration (20 minutes): A demonstration should be a highly practical session focusing on classroom materials and/or activities. As the name suggests, the majority of the time available should be devoted to demonstrating materials or activities which have been developed and tried out by the presenter(s).

“Theory”

should be kept to a minimum, but 5 minutes should be allocated for questions/comments from participants.

(c) Poster: A poster is a visual presentation illustrating and summarizing a project, a feature of language or an area of research. The presenter may use pictures, graphs, sample student work and other kinds of visual aid with the explanatory text. The presenter will have 20 minutes to talk through the topic of the poster and approximately 5 minutes should be left at the end for questions and/or comments. Size: 1m x 1m.
